Self-Esteem and AD/HD
Because of the powerful impact the view of others too often has on one's self-esteem, the constant negativity the person with AD/HD receives often damages his or her self-esteem. This is because the person with AD/HD is regularly unfairly criticized for not paying attention, not doing the right work, doing things wrong, being a procrastinator, not caring and many more negative statements. Unfortunately, these are things persons with AD/HD do even when they have the best of intentions.
What is Self-Esteem?
Self-Esteem is the image we have of ourselves. We have high self-esteem if we respect ourselves, treat people fairly, expect the same from others, have confidence in ourselves and our right to be happy human beings. We feel worthy and deserving of a good life and do what we can to obtain it.
